New Brunswick Train Station

The revitalization of a transformed new and improved train station in New Brunswick is further solidifying Middlesex County’s place among the most innovative Counties in the region, with facilities focused on all aspects of quality of life for our residents!

The Middlesex County Improvement Authority (MCIA), in collaboration with NJ TRANSIT and the New Jersey Department of Transportation, has approved a $7 million contract for design services to infrastructure consulting firm AECOM during its meeting on November 8, 2023. This important investment will enable extensive renovations to be carried out at this crucial Northeast Corridor train station. The renovations are projected to encompass the westbound and eastbound platforms, pedestrian transfer passages, the existing tunnel beneath the tracks, site work and landscaping, new waiting areas, entrance signage, trainway equipment, building equipment, vertical circulation elements, and other essential site-related components.

The MCIA is leading the renovation efforts on behalf of the County and NJ TRANSIT. The $7 million contract is a component of the $45 million investment allocated by the State of New Jersey in the FY2023 budget for improvements to the New Brunswick Train Station.

Significant headway is being made by the MCIA in the New Brunswick Train Station project, working with partners to finalize concept design.

History of the Project
